What is the difference between Natural Hair Milk, Natural Hair Nutrition and Curl Peace?
Do children really have different hair care needs than adults?
<span style=”font-weight: 400;”>Kids tend to have finer hair that produces less oil than adults up until puberty. The skin is also extremely delicate and sensitive during childhood, hence the “tender headed” description assigned to many children. Because of this, the following is important when it comes to kid’s kinky, coily, and/or curly hair care:</span>
<li style=”font-weight: 400;”><span style=”font-weight: 400;”>Find products that provide lots of slip for gentle detangling.</span></li>
<li style=”font-weight: 400;”><span style=”font-weight: 400;”>Use products made just for kids that offer the right moisture balance.</span></li>
<li style=”font-weight: 400;”><span style=”font-weight: 400;”>Stick to gentle shampoos, conditioners and styling products to avoid drying out the hair.</span></li>
What ingredients are best for my child’s hair?
There are many nutrient rich ingredients out there that are wonderful for maintaining healthy hair. Coils, kinks and curls typically need ingredients that offer strength, maintenance, moisture and protection. Curl Peace has chosen the following key ingredients with your little one in mind:
How can I keep my child’s kinks, coils and curls looking hydrated and healthy?
Moisturize! When hair is dull and dry it is usually due to dehydration of the hair strands. Wash day is the best time to reintroduce moisture to your child’s hair. Try the 3-step wash day routine from Just for Me® Curl Peace™ to restore and retain the moisture in your little one’s kinks, coils and curls. Many natural kids that are prone to dry hair benefit from the cocktailing a liquid leave-in, oil and curl cream to help with moisture retention. This is known as the L.O.C. or L.C.O. method (Liquid. Oil. Cream or Liquid. Cream. Oil) depending on the order of application. Try the L.O.C. method using the following Just for Me® products:
This combination will provide moisture longevity and excellent detangling, a major plus!
How can I keep my child’s edges healthy?
Here are the best ways to maintain healthy hair for your kids:
What should I do if my child doesn’t have a curl pattern?
Sometimes, the natural curl needs help being defined. Use Just for Me® Curl Peace™ Defining Curl and Coil Cream to promote definition the following ways:
Style Set Curls – Apply the Defining Curl & Coil Cream before styling hair in twists, braids or bantu knots. Allow hair to dry completely before taking down the style to reveal beautiful, defined curls.
What can I do to help my child’s hair grow?
Hair naturally grows on its own, but here are some tips for proper care and length retention:
How often do I need to wash my child’s hair?
Hair should be washed every 1-2 weeks. Wash Day is important because it is an opportunity to remove build up from products and the environment, detangle coils, kinks and curls and impart moisture.
What is a Pre-Poo?
“Pre-Poo” or Pre-Shampoo is any product being applied to the hair before shampooing. Oils, lotions or conditioners can be used as pre-poos. Just for Me® Curl Peace™ Tender Head Detangling Treatment can be used as a pre-shampoo or after taking down protective styles to quickly eliminate tangles and prevent excess shedding.
What is a Co-Wash?
Co-Washing means washing the hair with conditioner only. This is a great method to refresh curls mid-week for those who prefer wash and go styling. Co-Washing should not replace regular shampooing as it is necessary to remove old oil, build up and dirt from the scalp and hair to promote healthy follicles and proper circulation.
Do I need to condition my child’s hair every wash day, or can I skip it?
Skipping conditioning is not recommended. After shampooing, you have removed oil and dirt and the hair cuticle is open and ready to receive moisture. This is a great opportunity to fill it up with all the good stuff, who are we to waste it? If you worry about weighing down fine hair, utilize less product and only add to the mid shaft and ends. Try Curl Peace™ Ultimate Detangling Conditioner for great detangling and quick absorption to nourish from the inside out.
How long should I let the conditioner sit?
5-10 minutes is just fine for a regular conditioning. Try deep conditioning once a month for up to 30 minutes with heat from a dryer or plastic cap.
Do I need to use a leave-in conditioner?
Leave-In conditioners are essential to the continued protection of the hair. Try using Curl Peace™ 5-in-1 Wonder Spray as a leave-in conditioner for detangling, additional moisture, shine, strengthening and heat protection.
Do boys need to use conditioner too?
Absolutely! Boys with longer hair require the same maintenance as girls. Remember, moisture is buildable, so the more you shampoo and condition the hair the more primed it will be to receive moisture.
Is painless detangling possible?
Yes. Although every child responds differently to getting their coils, kinks and curls detangled, painless detangling is possible with the right products and techniques. Curl Peace™ products add slip to the hair, which is the foundation to gentle detangling.
What is the best way to detangle my child’s hair?
Here’s the Just for Me® Curl Peace™ approach to detangling.:
Slip is a major key to gentle detangling. Kid kinks, coils and curls lack elasticity when they’re dry, making them vulnerable to breakage during detangling. Try the new Just for Me® Curl Peace™ Wash Day Routine and the Just for Me® Curl Peace™ 5-in-1 Wonder Spray for easy detangling and slip.
Divide kid’s kinks, coils and curls into sections of four or more to make the detangling process easier for you and your little one.
Approach detangling by starting from the bottom (ends) and work your way up to the scalp using a wide tooth comb.
Hold on to the hair right above the loose area you’re detangling to allow absorption of any pulling and tension and prevent the scalp from being subjected to any tugging.
Be patient and know that you’ve got this! Approach the detangling and hair care process with positive energy and confidence and your kids are likely to follow suit.
How often should I detangle my child’s hair?
Wash Days are made for detangling. If wash day comes every two weeks in your home try detangling at least weekly or refresh curls using Curl Peace™ 5-in-1 Wonder Spray.
How can I prevent tangling and matting?
To prevent excessive tangling and matting establish a weekly maintenance routine. Here are the recommended regimens for Curl Peace™:
Curl Peace Wash Day – A 3-step routine to provide the ultimate detangling, cleansing and conditioning for tender heads. Keep your wash day routine to prevent matting and maintain healthy hair.
Curl Peace L.O.C. – A moisture retention method that leaves hair detangled, nourished and defined.
Gentle Styling: Our gentle styling products work hard to hold styles in place, whether you’re touching up edges, ponytails, puffs or putting in protective styles.
Braiding & Twisting Grip Glaze 5.5oz – For easier styling, longer lasting cornrows and flat twist.
What are the best detangling tools?
Besides Just for Me® Curl Peace™, The best detangling tools are a wide tooth comb, and a detangling or Denman brush.
What are some quick and easy styles that last?
Some quick, cute styles that last are basic flat twists, single twists, and light-tension cornrows. Either technique can be styled in a multitude of ways. For even longer lasting styles use Just for Me® Curl Peace™ Braiding & Twisting Grip Glaze.
What are the best products for lasting styles?
What are some cute styles for short hair?
Finger coils and comb coils are always a go-to for defining curls on short hair. Give it a try with Just for Me® Curl Peace™ Defining Curl & Coil Cream. Not only does this cream add definition and shine, it also leaves hair nourished and soft. For added cuteness try adding cornrows and flat-twists along the hairline, on the sides, front or back of the hair with Just for Me® Curl Peace™ Braiding & Twisting Grip Glaze. Whatever style you choose, be sure to let your coily, kinky, curly haired kid know that they are beautiful!
How can I blow dry my child’s hair?
First, apply Just for Me® Curl Peace 5-in-1 Wonder Spray to help protect against heat. Part the hair into four sections. Gently detangle each section, starting at the ends and working your way up. After detangling, grab hair by the ends and stretch, moving the blow dryer up and down the length of the hair from end to root. After selected section is 75% dry, run a paddle brush through the hair simultaneously with the blow dryer. This can also be done with a comb attachment.
What can I do to make styling faster?
Quality products + the right technique = easier & faster styling. Go for products like Just for Me® Curl Peace™ that offer detangling, conditioning and protection. These key components to healthier hair care help save time. The healthier the hair, the easier styling becomes as less time is spent working through tangles and struggling through dry, damaged hair.
